NORTH CAROLINA FARMERS GROW GOODNESS, AND NORTH CAROLINA COMPANIES PRODUCE WONDERFUL PRODUCTS WHICH MAKE FOR MAGIC

North Carolina--Magic About The Soft Drink Capital of the World

Picture
Since soft drinks first captured the hearts and thirsts of Americans, North Carolina has proclaimed itself the "Soft Drink Capital."  And rightfully so.  After all, Pepsi-Cola was invented in North Carolina.  Cheerwine was introduced to the world by North Carolina in 1917.  And North Carolina claims Sun Drop, the citrus cola that recently was introduced nationally to go head to head with Mello Yello and Mountain Dew.
Imagine, if you will, Dan has six empty cups on stage and a Food Lion (another North Carolina company) milk carton, which he proceeds to fill with chocolate milk.  Then from that one carton, the Magician proceeds to pour into each of six empty cups a different drink, i.e., white milk, Cheerwine, Sundrop, strawberry milk, lemonade, etc.  And then the cups are passed to the audience members to taste and verify that the cups do contain separate drinks.  IT'S MAGIC!

APPLES HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE ADAM AND EVE...THEY ARE STILL MAGIC

Picture
The mountains of North Carolina continue to produce many, many varieties of some of the finest, tastiest apples in all the world.  And shall we remember the old adage, "An apple a day will keep the doctor away."  And what's more American than a hot apple pie made from North Carolina Stayman-Winesaps.
Suppose Dan, Dan takes an empty container and then places a hollow cover over it.  He pours in some apple seeds, waves his wand and says the magic words, lifts the cover, and VOILA, the empty container is filled with real, edible apples.
And then suppose Dan, Dan borrows a dollar bill from an audience member.  After the serial number is carefully noted to identify the bill, the money somehow vanishes.  An apple is selected from the container, sliced open, and inside is found a real dollar bill, which turns out the be the very bill identified as the one "borrowed" from the audience member.

WHAT CAN BE MORE MAGICAL THAN A HOT DOUGHNUT?

Picture
Dan, Dan began a love affair with doughnuts as a child when he read about the doughnut adventures of Homer Price in Robert McCloskey's magnificently illustrated book for young and old alike.  Born and still head-quartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are synonmous with snack magic throughout America.
Picture the scene when the Magician asks two audience members to hold the ends of two ribbons onto which four delicious doughnuts have been threaded.  A napkin is placed over the doughnuts, the magician waves his wand, requests the volunteers to pull on their ribbons, and suddenly the four undamaged doughnuts fall into a plate, ready for consumption by the audience
Or what if three audience members are allowed to select the fillled doughnut of their choice, i.e., raspberry, chocolate, or lemon.  Once the three selections have been made, each volunteer selects a card from a deck of 52.  Each selected card is revealed, and then each volunteer opens the chosen doughnut only to find the matching selected card.  IT'S DOUGHNUT MAGIC!!!!

AND HOW ABOUT THOSE MAGIC NORTH CAROLINA HUSHPUPPIES

Picture
Oh, how we North Carolinians love those tender deep-fried tasty cornmeal treats!  If you've ever been to the North Carolina State Fair, you probably have enjoyed a free sample of these lucious morsels, compliments of House-Autry Mills, a North Carolina born and based company that has been making its famous hushpuppy mix over much of its 200-year history.
Imagine DAN, DAN THE MAGIC MAN pouring some of that famous hushpuppy mix into an otherwise empty pan, setting it afire, covering it with a lid to put out the fire, and then lifting it to produce a bounteous pan full of ready-to eat North Carolina hushpuppies.  Now that's YUMMY TAR HEEL MAGIC!
